A blog in 2026?
It’s 2026 and I decided to start writing a blog. What’s the point in that, is anybody even going to read it?
Why start a blog?
The long and short of it is that I’m a man with too many interests and hobbies. I like to talk about them and I don’t have people to talk to them about. Starting a blog is a way for me to engage in writing in a way that I haven’t for a number of years – and shout into the void about the things I enjoy.
I’m not going into this with the intent of becoming an influencer or having a dedicated following that latches onto my every word. I want to write about my hobbies and interests, and if that leads to conversations with strangers then that’s an added bonus.
What am I into?
I accumulate hobbies and interests easily. I have a graveyard of things I’ve given up on because I don’t have the time to spend on them. I also have a bad habit of choosing the worst time to start things, like deciding that the last year of a degree is the best time to try and learn Japanese.
If I listed everything we’d be here all day, so the main things I like are…
- Tattoos (I’m currently halfway through a geometric/blackout bodysuit)
- Art (Tattoos, Japanese prints, I’m trying to teach myself to draw/paint)
- Reading (sci-fi, fantasy and crime fiction)
- Video Games (single-player in a range of genres, but mostly RPGs)
What do I want to write about?
I want to yap about everything. What am I reading at the moment, and what do I think of it? Is there a game that I’m looking forward to? What progress did I make in my latest tattoo session? I’m not looking to write long insightful essays, just ramble about shit.
How often do I want to write?
I’m just going to write when I feel like it. I could end up writing regularly, or months could pass between posts.
